Optus Stadium – Perth’s Iconic International Landmark

2 mins read

Perth is home to one of the world’s most impressive sporting venues – the award-winning Optus Stadium. Recognised on a global stage, the stadium was named the most beautiful sporting facility in the world by the prestigious Prix Versailles Awards in 2019.

A Landmark on the Burswood Peninsula

Situated on the scenic Burswood Peninsula, Optus Stadium has quickly become one of Perth’s most iconic and frequently visited landmarks. Its design celebrates Western Australia’s unique identity, incorporating natural materials and forms that reflect the local landscape.

Built with Western Australian Craftsmanship

Completed in 2017, the stadium was a collaboration between The Government of Western Australia, renowned architects Hassell Cox HKS, and leading construction firm Multiplex. A standout feature of the stadium is its striking use of masonry – more than 600,000 precision-engineered masonry blocks, proudly manufactured in Middle Swan by Midland Brick.

These locally produced blocks contribute not only to the stadium’s structural integrity but also to its distinct aesthetic, helping connect this world-class venue to its Western Australian roots.
